Older Person's Care Preferences & Relations With Immigrant Care WorkersRelying on the data drawn from the interviews with immigrant care workers as well as with current and prospective care recipients, in this section we discuss older persons’ care preferences, their views and relations with immigrant care workers as well as the quality of care given and received in care settings for the elderly. We begin by describing care preferences and what, according to our immigrant care workers and elder respondents, makes a good carer. We follow this discussion with the range of relations between immigrant care workers and their clients. Finally, we discuss some of the influences on this relationship and the quality of care given and received in care settings for the elderly. We conclude the chapter by pointing to some of the policy implications suggested by our findings. |
